Course Introduction

Welcome to the: High Leverage Teaching Practices (HLTPs) Course.

There are six (6) components to this course, which will all highlight Barak Rosenshine’s Principles in Action. These “Principles,” which are synonymously referred to as Practices, will be presented through Tom Sherrington’s categorization of “Strands”. Throughout the course, you will engage in multiple quiz type activities that do not have an actual score.

The six (6) course components are…

• Introduction (Learning Intentions, Activating Prior Knowledge, Building Background, and The “Why”)
• “Lesson 1” – Strand 1 (Practices #2, 4, 8)
• “Lesson 2” – Strand 2 (Practices # 3, 6)
• “Lesson 3” – Strand 3 (Practices #1, 10)
• “Lesson 4” – Strand 4 (Practices #5, 7, 9)
