HLTP Course

This course is for teachers that will be working at an approved Summer Program in the Genesee Valley region. Each approved district is required to have teachers attend this professional learning session, or turnkey this content to Summer Program teaching staff.  The focus of this year’s learning will be on teaching practices that have stood the test of time, and are not simply a fad. This professional learning course will focus on Rosenshine’s Principles of Instruction and Tom Sherrington’s book, which provides an extra layer of guidance through his condensed four strands.  These high leverage teaching practices are rooted in evidence, yet are reasonable for teachers to master with practice. This online learning opportunity will discuss all four strands including sequencing concepts and modeling, questioning, reviewing material and stages of practice. The overall goal is to provide Summer Program students the best opportunity to remediate and grow whether in the classroom or through virtual methods.
